What's on in Maidstone 30th July Weekend?

The County Town of Kent is set to come alive this weekend with a number of free activities taking place at different venues throughout the town. Firstly there is the Maidstone River Festival which attracts people from all over the county. The festival opens officially at 11am by Mayor Brian Mortimer and the Festival Chairman, Martin Cox. The traditional raft race begins at 12.00 with the final taking place at 16.00. The festival also makes use of not only the Riverside Stage but also Whatman Park and Brenchley Gardens. A full time table of events for the 2011 Maidstone River Festival can be found at There is definitely something for all the family including a number of activities for children in Whatman Park. The river festival isn't just about the boats on the river, there is a host of entertainment throughout the town well worth exploring. 
This year there is also a car lottery taking place at Fremlin Walk, check out the Maidstone River Festival Site for more information.

The White Horse Pub on London road is holding an all day music shindig in aid of the Stroke Association. With live music throughout the day from 14.00 and family activities to keep the little ones amused. There is even a chance to win a 22" TV with DVD and Freeview.
