The date for the 2010 Maidstone River Festival has been confirmed as 31st July and all the fun begins at 10.30 ending with the fabulous firework display in the evening. The theme this year is 'Dunkirk' to mark the 70th Anniversary.

The official opening of the River Festival by the Mayor of Maidstone will be at 11am this year instead of 12pm.

This year, the Maidstone River Festival will focus more on families until 18.30 with a full range of entertainment being provided in the Whatman Millenium Park with local clubs and associations showcasing both their talent and their causes. The Millenium park is a short walk from the main Bridges in Maidstone Town Centre and is a wonderful gem to be found along the River Medway.

Brenchley Gardens will be the home of some Big Band Entertainment and another new addition to the entertainment and live music stages is the Purple Monkey Stage in the All Saint's Car Park.

The Fun Fair will be held in the Lockmeadow Car Park and can easily be accessed by the main bridge or the Millenium Footbridge located close to Maidstone's very own Amphitheatre.

Maidstone will come alive with Street Entertainers, live music, Big Bands, Buskers and much much more. This biggest FREE event in Maidstone is one definitely not one to be missed.

To get your hands on a copy of the 2010 Maidstone River Festival Programme watch out for people walking throughout Maidstone on Saturday 31st July wearing KENT IDEAS T-Shirts - there is a prize draw this year with some fantastic prizes to be won. All monies received from the programme will go directly to the 2010 supported charities (p20)

The River Festival Raft Race takes place at 14.30 and this year it is sponsored by Strata Construction and the illuminated boat parade will take place at 21.30 - directly before the fantastic fireworks display.

The HRM Music stage sponsored by Golding Homes starts at 11.00 with Timeless Beauties through until 20.30 with Blues Brother Little Brother. Full stage listings can be found in the official Festival Programme.

Whatman Park's entertainment starts at 10.00 and will showcase local talent and dance scools throughout the day.

The Purple Monkey Stage opens at 10.30 and is located in the All Saint's car park.
