If you are planning a day out in Maidstone or are passing through on your way to Folkestone or Dover, Maidstone has something that is bound to be of interest to you. Maidstone is a town full of History and has some free attractions as well as paid for attractions such as Leeds Castle. Maidstone Museum in Faith Street is a Free Kent Activity and there are often exhibitions with activities (some paid for) to keep the kids amused during the school holidays. Maidstone lies on the River Medway which allowed the town to prosper as goods were easily transported in and out of the town by the Medway. Now you can take a boat up the River Medway to the Malta Inn, the boats leave from just underneath the Archbishops Palace.

The Archbisops Palace is a beautiful building that dominates the river opposite the County Court, it is used for Weddings and Civil Partnerships and people travel from all over Kent to get married here due to its' beautiful setting.

The events are free and may range from a recruitment fair, a pregnancy fair, fun filled music events to health and beauty days. The Royal Start Arcade is a Shopping Centre that houses a number of independent traders and is well worth a walk though. There are a number of independent and interesting Maidstone shops located throughout the town and with three Shopping Centres there is bound to be something that will appeal to you.
