Our Day Out
A play by Willy Russell
Journey with the talented Kent Youth Theatre
on a school-trip of a lifetime
Chaos reigns when the boys and girls from the ‘progress class’ - a remedial class for illiterate children taught by Mrs Kay - are taken on a coach trip to Conwy Castle in North Wales under the supervision of the authoritarian Deputy Headmaster - Mr Briggs.
The comical coach driver - who hates children on his bus - stops en route at the zoo, beach and fairground - where the likes of Digga and Reilly run riot.
The story celebrates the highs and lows of growing up and for these no-hopers from the Liverpool backstreets - Our Day Out - is probably as good as it gets.
Kent Youth Theatre’s actors are giving it their all in this comical yet poignant play and true to form there will be audience participation.
The play is performed on 15th, 16th and 17th December at the Kent Youth Theatre, Kent College, Whitstable Road, Canterbury, CT2 9DT
