Breakthrough Breast Cancer Mid Kent - Saving a Life Campaign

The Eagle Tavern Rochester Helps Kick Start a Life Saving Campaign.

Medway musician, Phil Wilson has a place in next year's Virgin London Marathon and is offering his percussion services for free as part of a fundraising campaign.

Raising funds for Breakthrough Breast Cancer Mid Kent, Phil is aiming to play with as many bands as he can and raise as much as possible. He will be playing for free on the understanding that announcements are made about the project and the opportunity exists for donations to be made.

The campaign is kicking off locally and intimately this Saturday 4th and Sunday 5th of December at the Eagle Tavern in Rochester. Phil will be performing alongside accomplished Kent singer and guitarist Andy White. There will be two afternoon shows starting at 3.30pm as part of the annual Rochester Dickens Christmas Festival.

Phil said “It's great to be involved in the Dickens' Christmas Festival and it will be extra special that i'm starting the campaign with someone as talented as Andy White.


Phil is an experienced professional drummer and percussionist, playing in the UK and overseas and in a number of Kent venues including the Chatham Central Theatre, Dartford Orchard and Tunbridge Wells Assembly Rooms, as well as more intimate clubs, pubs and private parties. National tours have seen him perform at theatres and arenas in the UK, Germany, Holland, Belgium and the Middle East including Wembley Arena, SECC in Glasgow the NEC and the18,000 seat Sports Palace in Antwerp.

Phil describes himself as a “listener” and plays to complement the music - as percussionists should, rather than take over. This program will not only raise money for Breakthrough Breast Cancer, but will also give bands duos, even solo acts the luxury of having a free percussionist for the night.

Phil tells us “ I have trialled the idea with a number of bands and solo acts and it works a treat. In bigger bands percussion adds a real spark." He is happy playing Latin, funk, country, rock, folk “I will even perform solo if asked!”

Breakthrough Breast Cancer is a pioneering charity dedicated to the prevention, treatment and ultimate eradication of breast cancer.
